QUICK STEPS

Firstly, here are two quick steps you can take to progress The Hills Shire toward Zero DFV. They’re all about sharing!

Now on with the news…

The major roadblocks to eliminating domestic and family violence (DFV) are practical rather than ideological. Research shows that most people want DFV gone, and we have most of the solutions to address the problem, but practical issues stand in the way of implementing the necessary changes. These include a shared understanding of the pathway ahead, resourcing, training, and communication.
We have created the Zero DFV community development program to address these practicalities and this month, we achieved another massive milestone!

Thanks to the hard work of the team at Castle Hill RSL Group, we have launched the Zero DFV website, dedicated to supporting the Hills community. While it may seem like a simple achievement, it represents a vital addition to the community's efforts that has never existed before.

Previously, there was no single platform for community organisations and individuals to promote their activities , making it difficult for locals to get involved. Additionally, there was no place to showcase the great work being done in the community, preventing everyone from seeing the momentum and progress.

Now, with the Zero DFV website, that has all changed! This is another significant win that deserves celebration.

16 Days of Activism begins 25 November

The 16 Days of Activism is a global campaign dedicated to ending violence against women and girls.  It commences on 25 November each year.  Jump onto the Upcoming Activities page on the Zero DFV website to see how you can get involved with efforts in The Hills Shire.  Please also share the link in your social networks.

Count Me In! Selfie Contest

In conjunction with the 16 Days of Activism, we will be holding the Count Me In! Selfie Contest. From 25 November 2025, we will encourage people from across the community to attend a 16 Days of Activism event in The Hills Shire, snap a selfie, share it, and then upload it to the contest webpage.  All participants will go into a draw for a $250 gift card from Castle Hill RSL Group, redeemable within sport facilities, cafes, restaurants and the box office.

We will send you a reminder email when the campaign launches on 25 November.
